Currently I have 265/70-17's on a stock 2002 Ram 1500 2WD. I'm wondering if 285/70-17's will fit without a problem. Has anyone tried it, will it work?

 

I have 295/70/17's on my stock 2004 Ram 2wd with no problems.

That is what I am looking at. It will give you the same diameter as the standard 20's. What tires are you looking at? You have a price range..

 

Mine came with the LT275/70R17 as an option from factory and I got a quote for some 285/70R17 BFG All-Terrain T/A KO ... these are great tires. I would guess it would be the same for a 2002.

 

Thanks for the info guys. My truck came with 245-70-17's when I bought it. I currently have 265's which might need rpelaced by the end of the year and I was thinking 285 or wondering just how big I can go with it being stock 2WD. Do you have to recalibrate the speedo if going to 285's or 295's?

 

You will have to re-calibrate the speedo..... Your larger tires will give you a higher speed than actual, but it will be by like 2 or 3 miles..... This is a good website for it
