saw this. thought you might like to see. looks like this guy can get you everything you need including the 5 speed auto for about 3000 grand. looks like a once in a lifetime deal. Or it could be opening up a can of worms trying to get it to work.

Id go for the engine swap, even when you add in all the extra parts you need to convert it to a hemi it will still be about the same price as the rebuild with all performance parts. And even with all the performance parts it still would only end up with about the same amount of power as a very lightly modded hemi. It just seems like a waste of money to do a rebuild.
Now on the other hand if you were to do the rebuild but only do it back to stock parts (save you alot of time and money for parts) and buy the hemi as well and work on it every now and then until it is built up and is a complete power house and stick it in at a later date that would deffinatelywork in my book...
Also how did the engine die? What exactly happened to it? And can it be rebuilt? Depending on the damages it may not be able to be rebuilt and then you would be kicking yourself for not buying the Hemi. $1800 is dirt cheap (if it is working).

if you surpass even an unmodded hemi in terms of power with a 4.7 your spending some serious cash. there is a huge difference in power to the between the 4.7 and 5.7. It'll take alot to get there. And then youd run up against a hemi with a comp cam and be in trouble. or better yet, one with forced induction.

that being said, there is the fact too that your hooking it to a tranny that may be a good one, but not one that was designed for the motor. The weakest link will go next, so if there is any flaw or wear issue, that hemi will find it for sure. then there are other components that will be effected the same way. good luck on the rebuild.

exactly. i'm looking for a cam now, but i think im going to beef m tranny up a bit before i instal anymore performance parts. I dont know about the rest of you, but i'd hate to take it in to try to repair the tranny under my exstended warranty and have them say NO! "your transmission failed because of non oem parts and modifications."
