Default My rear axle.. that bad???

Just got an 03 1500 5.7l 4x4. Has 39k on it. 3.92 gears and Traclok. I've heard rumors that these things implode on their own?? If thats the case i would be probably better off getting a new carrier/LSD like a powertrax instead of modding the truck right away right?

Thanks for the info..

Yea, not a bad idea if the LSD is factory. Better to spend $400-$500 now then $2500 when it implodes and take the whole rear end out on you. Do some searches on the forums about the Powertrax though, I've read a lot of bad, including lock up of the rear end problems while cruising along at highway speed. A very dangerous thing, there. The chosen ones by most truck owners are the Auburn Gear LSD and the Eaton/Detroit TruTrac. Both very solid, dependable units...
