OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) with new software.

NOTE: This bulletin applies to the above listed vehicles equipped with a 5.7L engine
with MDS (sales code EZB) built before the following dates:
• (HB/HG) built before August 15, 2007 (MDH 0814XX)
• (LX) built before September 14, 2007 (MDH 0914XX)
• (DR) built before August 16, 2007 (MDH 0816XX)
• **(WK/WH/XK/XH) built before January 8, 2008 (MDH 0108XX)**
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The vehicle operator may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination due
to the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC):
· P0524 - Engine Oil Pressure Too Low
DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (StarSCAN®) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in
TechCONNECT, verify all engine systems are functioning as designed. If other DTC's are
present record them on the repair order and repair as necessary before proceeding further
with this bulletin.

 

For $104 they well fix it!( Dodge dealer) Really? A factory defect and then charge me $104 due to firmware being incorrect. This code only happens when it is idling. Warm fuzzies are not being generated.

 

my local dealer fixed mine for free, they used tsb which was about my problem and put it on laptop and retune it so light would stay out.

 

My 2008 Ram 1500 4X4 with a Hemi just had the check engine light come on and I took it to our local dealer to get it checked. After sitting for 4 days, the Service Advisor called me and told me the code was P0524, and the oil pressure sending unit was bad. $314.35 later, I had a new oil pressure sending unit and was on my way.

No mention of a TSB and no mention of any of the problems with the Hemi as discussed here. Next week, I will be making a trip back to the dealer to discuss this issue in more depth.

Please keep in mind that the TSB is not the only resolution to the P0524 code but is intended as a troubleshooting suggestion. I would certainly ask the dealer about it though.

 

Doesn't the oil pressure gauge work off the sending unit? My gauge shows good pressure at idle and you can see it move when the RPMs increase.

 

 

Is there a way to fool the computer to think you have good oil presure all the time ?

 

a few people on here have stated not having a code reader and going to autozone. i may have thought it was common knowledge but on most dodge vehicles if you cycle the key 3 times the dash will show you the codes on the odometer display.
