RE: a little funny
i design and work with engines that can burn over 250 gallons an hour. if we have all of our test engines running we'd burn between 1k-2k an hour. the engines that run more often probably go through a quarter to half a million gallons a year.
plus, before we got approved to use regular #2 diesel for emissions testing a month ago, had to use a different diesel fuel that cost $6-$8 a gallon.

i understand big businesses using fuel, they get their costs covered much more easily than a small business does.

I work on lineboats. Last year one of our smaller sized boats( 6000 horsepower ) used 1.6 million gallons of diesel. We have two 9000's. I think we have around 40 line boats. When we take on fuel. It's between 40 to 70 thousand gallons. We spend alot of money on diesel. Millions, but we still haul cheaper than any other transportation market.

w00t! those are our engines you're running! I design the liners in those.
but i'd be surprised if you had any of our 6000 hp ones. maybe the 5400s. you know what model you got?
you think 12khp is overkill, one of the guys i work with has been on a boat with 4 6khp engines=24000 hp. and they still want more!
