Default Taillight out chime

New to this forum. Bought a 2002 1500 4.7 crew auto from work (it was an old salesmans company vehicle) . searched but .. cant find an answer.

recently i've been having a taillight out light show up and chime.. intermitently checked all the lights tail,turn,stop,reverse,tag,3rd brake, high low, everything.. no lights are out.. its been coming on and going off.. rather randomly.. cant seem to find any obvious shorts or anything.. any ideas? heck i can live with the light on the dash.. but cant figure out where the chime is.. only idea is that it must be in the cluster?? any common problems??

I think that I have read someting about a bad light bar in one of the taillight assemblies causing this.

try replacing all the taillight bulbs before you spend the money on the taillight bar.

I had the same problem on a 2003 model. It was a bad connection on the taillight bar. I just used a screw driver to bend the contactors to make better contact with the bulbs and that fixed the problem.

Check your license plate illuminators, but I've had a similar "issue" with my truck. The Lamp Out warning seems to be psychic, mine came on intermittently for two weeks until one of the taillight bulbs finally went out.
