Default Auto 4wd?

This may sound stupid but I just got a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 bighorn. I realized shortly after buying it that it was not equipped w/ an "auto 4wd" selection. Just 2wd, 4hi and 4 lo. is this standard? and which models have the Auto 4wd?

the only thing i can think of that has auto 4wd is a chevy silverado Z71 with all the bells and whistles, your talking about being able to push the auto 4wd button and it slips the truck in and out of 4wd when you need it right?

It was an option on some Rams. Mine doesn't have it either, but it is explained in my manual. According to what I've found, it seems to be called "On Demand 4wd."

I think that would just cause more wear and tear on the transfer case and front end constantly shiftin in an out of 4x4, just comonsents if you ask me.
