Crank but no start

Default Crank but no start

I have a 04 cummins
Main fuel pump went out
Had shop replace pump and go thru transmission
in less than 200 miles it has died/wouldnt start twice
Next day wouldn't start
Cranks but no start
Towed back to shop it starts
No codes they are unable to replicate problem
The lift pump was replaced 10yrs/100000 miles ago
Shop is at a loss on route to go
And I don't want to get stranded
Any ideas

Intermittent problems are always a lotta fun....... Trying to troubleshoot something, that isn't happening, is impossible. You can 'guess', but, that's it. More often than not, you guess wrong.

Yes hate to just throw parts at it. Usually miss and just empty the pocket book

Job hazard.

Best I can suggest is to keep some diagnostic tools in the truck.... scanner, if you have one, volt meter, and fuel pressure gauge. Next time it doesn't wanna start, see what you can figger out.
