So all of a sudden when I turn my headlights on I get radio static. This just started a few days ago. The Hidextra kit has been installed for months, and the headunit has been in for over a year. Is this just a grounding issue?
interesting, how would a bad ballast cause static?
I got a 'lamp out' a few days ago, right about when this started now that I think about it. it went away soon as I turned the truck on so didn't think anything of it. lights still function fine.
First off: Is your system amplified? Sounds like it could definately be a grounding issue. Make sure all your ground points are good (i.e. not using factory bolts, and make sure you scraped away the paint under the screws). If you didnt use good grounding techniques, then the conductivity of the grounding points may be very inconsistant, which will cause a "ground loop" which causes noise in audio systems.
If it is a Pioneer HU you COULD have lost the constant ground and went to a floating ground but I SERIOUSLY doubt it. LMK what happens with the ballast. The good thing is if thats what it is theyre are replacements on ebay for very cheap.
