I contacted redline as I may be able to get a deal through a shop I know. They recommended their C+ ATF. It is a full syn as well. I will be giving that a try.

ok so if i were to replace ALL the fluid in my trans, lines, torque converter, transfer case, and differentials how many quarts would that be and how would i go about doing all that? i already have RP in my engine. do i need a pump for the diffs, transfer case, and torque converter? ive been wanting to do this since last summer but just never planned it or got around to it. what type of fluids do you use for the diffs, transfer case, and torque conv?

The OEM ATF+4 is also synthetic. No big gain from big name brands.

I have heard from a local dealer here in the UK, that switching over from the OEM fluid to RP in his tranny saw a 3mpg gain???

I wonder if Weedahoe could chime in here?
Did you see any MPG gains when you changed out your tranny fluid to RP Weed?

I'd consider a change even here in the UK with the rip off we get charged for RP if the MPG goes up

This may be a dumb question but I was told my transmission only takes 2.5 quarts. But I can only buy the fluid from the dealership. Could I just drain it and use royal purple? Has anyone used Lucas?

im running rp in the tranny right now. i noticed no mpg increases. all i noticed was SLIGHTLY smoother shifting, but that could just be because it needed a fluid change anyways.

There is no way a switch from one synthetic to another is going to net a 3 mpg increase. No doubt RP is good stuff, but it's kind of like debating mobil1 vs RP. Everyone has an opinion, and in the end they are both fine synthetics. The stock stuff is already synthetic.

Just for the record- All ATF+4 is synthetic. It's part of the specification. The stock fluid is actually rebadged Valvoline ATF+4

Here is an interesting link that shows RP is actually not approved for our trans- http://www.centerforqa.com/licensedatf4brands.html

Here is another link that shows that the ATF+4 spec is indeed synthetic- http://www.centerforqa.com/

I can say Ive got RP in my engine, trans and rear and never noticed any mileage increase. I think it is just one of those stipulations that say YOU MAY get an increase but fail to say that the increase is if you lay off the RPMs.
