the spring you're comparing is a 6.1 spring to the LS1 spring. now look at the 6.1 spring in your engine vs. the 5.7 springs in there. no wonder the 5.7 always break!

...unless thats a 5.7 in there. it looks thicker, so i assumed its the 6.1

Glad to see you've managed to get that sucker on there!
WOW what a frustrating time for you. Glad you kept it together and as already said, post pics as well.
That's also very good news, about the valve not passing air. It means your valve is seating OK.
Just try and use the brake cleaner to get rid of all that gunk. Button her all back up and fire it up!
Then do the dance lol
As for that tool I mentioned from Draggin-Accord, I looked at that months ago and thought WOW, what a useful bit of kit.
I need to do my 5.7 springs, as everytinme I buzz the engine I think...........VALVES lol.
Not to rub salt into your wounds or anything (I think Weed's done that already lol) my dad used to say, "a job is 80% having the right tools, 20% knowledge".
How right he was.
Take care and good luck today bud.
Al.

Sorry Al, I know. I didn't get to sleep until about 5am Sunday morning, then I was slammed after some shut eye and I apologize. Ok, click video, I should have drank a couple beers before doing this....

Sorry FireFighter.
I was too busy laughing at the video, I forgot to ask you to post up your other questions.
When you've recovered that is lol.

LMAO....you guys got a kick outta that huh? I thought I'd get poked at...and who knows what....I look so dam silly...but...who cares...it's original. lol...chumbawumba...well...the lyrics just fit so perfectly.

Ok, couple of last questions...here are two video's right at the 1st start up of the truck, 1st one is right at motor and 2nd is standing 10' behind the truck...where the sound is more pronounced. Yep, freaked when I heard this....same sound I heard right before I shut her down when I got home with the broken spring. Is this a lifter? I let it run for about 10 minutes to get up running temp, then raised the RPM's up to about 2K very gradually and the problem went away. You could hear it get quieter and quieter until it was gone. Drove 140 miles today...all is good, no tapping.

What do your experienced ears tell you this was and should I have any worries? I am thinking possibly the lifter got dislodged and then bled back down on it's own somehow?
