if you have down time you can disassemble the motor and lube the bearing & bushing with 3 In 1 oil

Default A/C condenser fan motor rebuild

Great info Al I used it to replace my original motor and now my replacement only runs if I rap the back with a hammer, how did you get the motor apart as it looks like a sealed unit, do you have any pics doing it, and where did you find brushes?

My fan motor had small metal tabs (i think 4 from memory) bent/twisted over the end cap plate.
I straightened them out and gently pulled off the plate.
Be careful here, so as not to damage inside.
You can see when the plates removed, the commutator, brushes etc etc.
I gently removed the old brushes. I think they fell out lol.
They were so badly worn.
I bought some small replacements from an electrical dealer here in the UK, who specialised in repairing ac and dc motors.
Maybe a shop over in the USA who repair small electrical pistol drills and such, could help you here??
I then re installed the new brushes after profiling them a little bit to fit the commutator and connected it all back up.
That was a heck of a long time ago (years) and I have had no problems ever since.
You can buy these motors on ebay now i believe.
Wasn't an option back then when mine failed and living in the UK, one has to be resourceful in repairs as spares cost a fortune and often times, unavailable.
Hope this helps?
Al.

Default condenser fan

I think my fan is not working anymore. I wired it to the battery to check to see if it would come on and nothing happen. Question is, does the fan comes on at a certain temperature or does it comes on automatically when the ac is turn on? And I'm trying to locate the sensor for the condenser fan on my 2004 dodge ram 1500, do you know where it is located at?

The fan should come on everytime the AC button is activated and also when the vent position control is put in the defrost position for your windscreen.
If the fans not running with a direct battery feed, it appears your fans goosed.

Default Fan, motor or both??

I have this same issue. We tap the motor and the fan starts working. So now my question is....is the fan the issue or the motor? When you buy the fan does it include the motor or are these two separate parts? I can't tell by pictures if it comes together on the parts sites. The wording seems to imply that it does, but then it looks like they sell the motors separately.

Ok if you tap the motor and it works, it's 100% the contact brushes inside it.
I fitted new ones in mine and resurrected it for pennies.
But I kniw how to do this, having been in the electrical industry.
Your best bet is to replace it.
I can't help out there, as I live in the UK.
I do believe eBay is your friend though
