04 Ram 1500 tire size question
Hello all, new to the forums, nice site!
Anyway, I currently own a 2004 Ram 1500 4x4, and I put a set of 20X9 Gear alloy 713MB's on it for summertime. Running 275/55/20's with no problems.
I kept my factory wheels that came with the truck, and recently wrapped them in a set of General Grabber AT2's for the wintertime. I haven't mounted them on the truck yet- BUT when I rolled them next to the 20's, they sit about an inch higher.
On paper, the 265/70/17's should be smaller. I don't know if it's the tread depth ect that's making the difference, maybe the truck sunk down i the gorund with the weight ect but I am just wondering if anyone has a truck similar with the same size AT2's on it, with no rubbing, ect.
Thanks for any responses/help you may be. I'm off to browse around a bit!

You certainly wont have any rubbing with those tires. You'll be totally fine.
with that said, the height difference is probably tread mixed with weight of truck. 1 inch taller would mean 1/2 inch top, 1/2 bottom. Weight of truck will certainly make the tire squat 1/2 inch at least, and new tires with full trade could make up the other difference.

Good to hear, thanks!
I know some Dodge's came stock with 265/70/17's.....I just didn't know being these were 17/32nds and an agressive, deep tread if that would make the difference.
I think the weight of the truck might have pushed the truck into the ground some, as it's rained for a solid 2 days here now. We'll find out tonight though!
nice wheels BTW!

Thanks! I picked the Ram up about 6 months ago, haven't done much to it other than the 20's.
I think the 265/70/17's are 31.6 or so? No leveling kit here. Just a CAI, dual exhaust which it had on it when I got it, and I added the wheels and a superchips tuner. Does pretty good on the ol' 5.7 hemi
The 20's fit on yours good in the looks dept

The fronts fit no problem
Now to mount the rears up when I have some free time, vacation is upon us, so they might have to wait a day or three
Then it's time to move onto another thing I found this past weekend. No power at the trailer plug.....brake controller has power though. Will poke around at that when we get back

Yeah I know, I actually got them really, really cheap is why I went with that size. They were used and I paid $100 mounted for them. They had about 40-50% tread left so I rolled with them.
Been tossing the idea around of finding someone local to swap my 713mb's for a set of stock ram 20's....as for some reason, I am drawn to them. Don't know why :lol I should have just bought them in the first place

What's the offset of your rims? I have to wonder if you had to trim because of width and not height as that tire is pretty much 33 inchs high like stock right?
Makes me wonder if 325/60/18 on a rim with negative offset like -12mm might work on a stock 2wd 2010 Ram with just the trimming??
