It will fit but with A LOT of money and work. You will need a different and special machined timing cover, brackets to move the alt and AC ($425). Then you need not only the 6.1 intake but the fuel rails and injectors and TB. Your 5.7 TB will work though. But with an 03 you also would need to do an 06+ spark plug coil conversion (another $400+) or use shorties. The 6.1 intake is tall so your existing plug wires will not go over the intake. Lastly you need 6.1 intake to 5.7 block adapters because of the port mismatch.

Wanna get away from the port mismatch? 6.1 heads will run you 800+ a pair and you may need to run double head gaskets to lower the CR a bit.

Still interested?

I had everything to do it with but with a little over 1200 in material (which was CHEAP) for that setup, the gains and investments were not going to be worth the returns so I sold it all off. I kept templates of the brackets and such in case I ever changed my mind. That way I can machine my own instead of paying 400+ for the kit.

It is by no means a cheap arrangement and most who have the dream and fever, never do it because of the cost. I watched a set of 6.1 heads sell the other day for 1200.

im already doin new heads and the ones im looking at are 2200 and the 6.1 heads are the same price from this company, im goin to do a 268 cam with the top mounted supercharger. im just not a fan of the pulley mounted superchargers such as the magnacharger. i just cant find a top mounted supercharger for a 5.7 so it seems im goin to have to make the 6.1 fit. im also doing a complete MSD ignition with a upgreaded fuel system, and the sheridon stage 2 tranny goin into 4.56 gears, my woman just gave me the okay to do it so im starting my research now. Any advice would help.

this will be the forth time i have done something like this, but its the first time i have had to dill with a computer in the truck, but i talked to my speed shop that does all my tuning and he says he can tune it no problem. i have heard alot of people say its goin to be harder because its a 03' why is that? i always thought a engine is a engine...they all work about the same way.

Good luck in your project. 03 is tunable but there is quite a bit of parameters that's not adjustable or is not available. The speed shop is going to regret those words "no problem".

The Forgotten thread would be a great place to start your researching regarding tuning options and what computer the 03 has.

Also check out runvs recent 03 turbo build. He is in the middle of tuning now so he may give some additional pointers.

An engine is an engine. But the computer they used in the 02 (5.9L) is different than the 03 (5.7L). The 03 is different from the 04 (internal PID changes). The 04 is different from the 05 (added TCM support). The 05 is different from the 06 (MDS).

There are lots of guys who have an 03 who wanted to put blowers and stuff on but never could. They all wanted to change the PCMs from an 03 to a minimum of 05+ and no one I have seen has been successful.

yeah they might not know what they are getting into, i know that when i was talking to sts about a turbo system they said they would be sending me a new "pre tuned" computer for my truck, are there any other companies out there that do that? like i said i have not supercharged a motor with a computer, the last one a did was a roush crate motor, so im not sure what kinda problem the computer is goin to give me.
