Default Low Idle

2005 Dodge Ram 1500 QC Hemi Daytona, bought used back in May 2011 with 34K miles on the clock. I have posted the problems I had since getting it, mostly check engine light issues. Had a low/rough idle, around 500 rpm's, CEL called out misfire cylinder 2, replaced all 16 spark plugs plus cylinder # 2 coil pack. CEL was reset then came back on shortly thereafter. Dodge did a top end cleaning and also replaced cylinder 2 fuel injector. Ran fine for a few weeks then CEL back on. Trouble shot to a bad gas pedal, 2005-2006 pedals on backorder due to high failure rate of pedals, something with the sensor inside of them. Got that fixed, was good for a few weeks and CEL comes back on, rough idle again. Fault code said Bank 2 Sensor 1 O2 sensor. Replaced it. Now running smooth but suddenly the idle is back down to 500 rpms and when it is that low the truck vibrates a bit. Thought the computer controls the idle? Why does it sometimes idle at 800rpms then 500rpms at other times? Waiting for CEL to come back on. This may be the last Dodge I will ever own. Damn thing is too good looking and rides nice which is why I am painfully delaying with this non-sense.

500 is normal at normal operating temp. Mine has always dropped to 500 in gear after idling for a bit such as in a drive-thru.

I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 4.7 v8. My truck reves from 500 to 2000 rpm when idleing. I tried to clean out the throttle body and the filter it was good for a week and then it came back no check engine light. What could cause that to happen?

mine idles around 800 RPM until it reaches operating temp, then it falls to around 500. It's normal. Blame the shaking on the power. lmao.

My idle is adjusted with my Diablo Trinity.

I dont see where you said you cleaned your throttle body, checked the gasket behind it for leaks or checked/replaced the EGR valve.

Push comes to shove, buy a Diablo and bump up your idle.
