If anyone read my recent thread about what happened to my bull bar, well here it is. I know it can be welded back together on the right side just fine, but the other is all bent and I'm not too sure if that's fixable. Please let me know if I should try and fix it or not even waste my time with it. Pics below:
sorry if the pics are huge, I didn't have time to resize.
If you can find a welder to do work on the side, It might be worth it. But generally from the damage I see, it might be cost effective not to mess with it, and just get a new one.
If you can weld then just get a small steel plate the same thickness and cut a new one, then weld it on. You can try sticking it in a vice and hammering it back into shape, but it'll probably leave a high spot or break.
I would use an oxy/acetalene torch to heat the bent piece and as mentioned, put it in a vice to straighten it.If you don't heat it the metal could be weakened by bending it back true.
I don't think you'd get it to look factory new again and looking at how paper thin that tubing is, it can't be very functional for protection. No sense in having a dinged up piece of decoration IMO. If it were mine, I'd toss it...
