Default Oops... broke it!

Good Day,

First post to the 3rd Gen forum, though I frequent the 2nd Gen one.

My buddy owns a 2004 1500 5.7L and brought it over to my house today as he broke what appears to be the front diff housing. Here is the video... and yes I'm laughing at him when he shows it to me.

Could use a little feedback on the best route to fix it... Live in New Brunswick, so local junkyards are kind of hard to find... though I am about 1.5hours from Houlton, Maine (which I go to often to pick up parts).

Anyways, here is the video:

Thanks,
InfO.

I hate to say it, but it looks like the housing is broken. Without seeing anything clearer, I'd guess a new axle (or axle housing, in the least) is in order...

Ack. It's dark out now, but I'll snap some close up pictures tomorrow and put them up.

Check your local junk yard or maybe upgrade to a DANA 60 or something.

I can't really see on the small monitor I have at work but if that is the front of the truck we are looking at.

You may have even damaged the transfer case (if its a 4x4) and/or transmission/torque converter... that will NOT be a cheap repair in the slightest...

If I was you, I'd have already dropped the trans and started the tear down process... then see if it is even rebuild-able...

If it's the rear then you are just looking at a new Diff and Axles...

I see this is your First Post! Welcome!
Give this a look at it lets you know where to post what question to get the best help. If you keep posting your questions in other peoples threads they will more than likely never get answered espically if they arent about the same thing as the Orginal thread.

But to answer your question i have to ask you one is it 5.9 Gas/ or Diesel?

Those are high miles for a gas but semi high for a Cummins.
