The 4.7 is a turd and I hate mine. With that said I towed a 4000# trailer with a 3700# grand cherokee on it and no trailer brakes for a 2 hours round trip. I held 70mph no problem on the flats and slight hills with o/d off, the truck went to 2nd on big hills. It's very doable but I wouldn't recommend towing that much very often without at least a hemi, a diesel would make it a breeze. Don't forget the trailer brake controller either, it can be done without but as cheap as they are its worth it to avoid the potential accidents.

umm YES! hemis are not much better than the 4.7 like people think they are!. I have done that very same situation with MY 4.7 . I had to work it a bit.my buddy with the HEMI towed the same trailer with the same car on it and actually had a little bit more of a problem. 4.7's are not as bad as people think they are, They are a work horse. yeah you may have to be on top of the maintenance a bit more. But all in all it's a pretty decent motor. Just remember anything can be accomplished, it is just how determined you are about doing it with what you got!

The 4.7 is a good engine, but to say it's "not much better" than the HEMI is just silly. I have a 4.7, my buddy has a 5.7. His puts mine to shame. I'm not too proud to say oh yeah my 4.7 is just as capable. It's not, really. It'll get the job done but bitch about it.

ANYWAYS

You PUT 3.55 gears in it? What did it have when you got it? Put in some 4.56's and you'll avoid tapping 2nd every time you hit a bump.

I loled

But yes, thank you for saving me from the trouble of having to search that myself. I figured everyone here knew that the Hemi made over 100 more horse and torque.

Plus, I find it funny when I leave my E-fan off by accident and the "Check Gauges" light yells at me, so I just let it cool off and keep driving. Try doing that with a 4.7
