well for starters here are a couple of sites that are dedicated to us diesel conversion nuts
http://www.dieselbombers.com/ http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/forum.php
first of all for what you want you can do a couple of things you want to keep the 47rh it is a manual shift trans and you wont need a stand alone computer there are a couple of final drive options you can do might give you 5 mph I would make sure you are shifting into overdrive sounds like you are not to me change the gear ratios you can change tire sizes some to achieve what you want
you can change Governor springs you should have a ve pump
I hope you did some frame and suspension work on the 1500 that engine weighs 1000lbs and stock has enough torque to twist your frame

How hard was mounting the engine? I'm not worried about electronics, but the fab work would be the hardest part for me.

well i used the stock tranny mound because I used a nv3500 and the littler 3.3 engine for what you a looking at I would use the stock tranny mounts the engine I would use a 4bt use some liquid filled motor mounts the pan may have to be modified but that is really no issue it is very doable and has been done already

Yes but there is a lot more torque to worry about, so just keep an eye out for it.
Anyways... Your PCM is only going to handle the same transmission as you have currently, so you'll likely end up in the Aftermarket ECU/PCM world... You could go with a manual transmission but then you'll still need a different PCM to prevent CEL from coming up.

he said he is running a 47 rh not a 47re if he is running a 47rh as he indicated there are a couple of ways to make overdrive work
just to clarify 47rh is a non electronic manual shift trans a 47re is the electronic shift trans
he first needs to make sure what he has if he used the trans from his donor truck then he needs to enable the overdrive and torque converter
lockup
the easiest way to make it all work is on the passenger side there is a port to test the pressure on the trans it produces about 1 psi per mph so get a 55-60 psi ac switch so when you get to 55-60 it will enable the overdrive and torque converter lockup there are some good write up's on this on diesel bombers 4bt conversions and the conversion section on ford truck enthusiasts
now if he is using the the 47re I would get a controller from http://www.fordcummins.com/ or http://www.destroked.com/ these 2 companies deal with cummins conversions
some of us feel that ford put in the 6.0 diesel so that they could be converted to a superior drive train with the cummins conversion
