Default Cupholder light question

I just traded in my 2001 Ram for an 06 1500 hemi. I love the truck so far but after driving it a few nights I noticed that the cupholder light is always on when the lights are on. I see that not many trucks have a cupholder light, but I was just wondering if it is supposed to shut off when you have the cupholder shut? It seems weird that it is always on. That glow bugs me just a little bit.

the cupholder light is connected with the dashboard light.
if you want to turn it off when the cupholder is closed, you need a tip-switch.
you can get these at every autozone, oreiley's etc...
install it on the dashboard side, in a position, where it is tipped when the cup holder is closed. connect it in line with the light- I would use the negative side to prevent contact fire. that will work. easy fix.
