From what I have been reading

HID is definitely better for longer distance light coverage.... Over 100' and it is lower cost than LED

LED is better for wide spread light at 100' give or take... SIGNIFICANTLY HIGHER COST

so it all depends on what suits your expedition better...

truthful i'm looking for white 5000k longer distance low beam for seeing open road when pitch black. in front of Ram.

asking any dodge forum members what they would suggest using/manufacture
i am not interested in a cheap light, has anyone have input on DDM Tuning their 5000k HID looks great not to mention very pure bright white for a low beam.

Get 4300K... it's brighter... and I love Morimoto HIDs for headlights.... Best place to get them is The Retrofit Source... you can also get high quality relay harnesses and if you have a 2005 or newer Ram with the TIPM then you'll need to get the Special Mopar Harness which makes like a lot easier....

for Driving Lights in addition to headlights I'd highly suggest KCHiLites HID driving lights.

studies iv read show a conflict between the 5000k & 6000k being the best light output iv seen studies for both claiming to be the best light output me iv got 6000k lights and love them I can see 100 plus ft on low beams great light output I don't even need high beams anymore but I got A BI level kit so both low/high are HID's

As for Izero's post about 4300k Nope I got Hid To get rid of the the yellow/orange light tint and 4300k that's what they are a Match to a halogen bulbs color temp if you want better light and brighter white light go 5000k-6000k now 8000k has pretty good light but they are to blue of tint for me Iv got both and stayed with 6000k for that reason the 6000k has just a slight blue tint just enough to tell a blue color

As for the light coverage My HID's cover off to sides of roadway very well as well as the front coverage like I said at least 100 feet

I have to disagree with you here....

check out this thread and read a little more.

http://www.hidplanet.com/forums/show...bout-HID-bulbs

They have compiled a very extensive list of temperature (kelvin) and Lumen output.... You can clearly see that 4300K is actually the brightest....

Keep in mind that the actual bulb type has a significant impact on the actual light output, but the real reason many think that 5000K is the "brightest" is because it creates more "contrast" which isn't always what you want while driving, because it causes eye fatigue, which is why your eyes will sometimes hurt while driving for awhile at night with any temperature bulb 5000K or higher....

In reality the best light output will come in somewhere between 3800K and 4500K depending on the bulb type.

There are hundreds of articles with scientific proof that anything greater than 4500K begins to drop off in light output.

Also when you begin adding "color" to light you end up actually "filtering out" certain colors on the surfaces the light hits.

Take my word for it and go with 4300K which will give you the MOST light output.
