Exclamation 2008 Speedo swap...possible?

I just purchased a 2008 Ram 1500 ST V6 standard trans. The guy who owned it before me took the gauges out to god knows what and broke the speedo. It is not a fuse or sensor. It is the actual gear mechanism inside the needle housing. Can I buy a used gauge cluster off of eBay that is close to my actual mileage and do a direct swap? If not, what do I need to do?

Well, the speedo is a one time self programming device so it will retain all the information based off the vin of the truck it comes out of.

So, you would have to find a truck that is identical to yours for it to correctly work.

A brand new cluster from the dealer is $300. It's a complete plug and play unit. Does not need to be programmed because it does it itself one time only. Not sure what they get for core charge but there is a core fee on top of that. As long as you have your old unit, no worry.
