Default Steering problem with Lift Kit, Help Immediately!!!

Hey guys here's the low down: 07 Ram 1500 4x4 SLT quad cab Big Horn edition. I have a 6" Rough Country Lift kit. 35" tires.
I have a very serious problem that I need immediate help!!! I had my front axle replaced earlier this year due to an accident I was involved in. Since then I have failed a total of 4 Rack and Pinions (Including the failure today)!! I figured the bigger tires and lift is putting extra strain on the stock rack.

This last time around I looked around for an aftermarket heavier duty rack but was unable to find one. I don't know whats wrong and I don't know what to do. Please any help and advice is greatly appreciated! Thank You.

I live in west phoenix, AZ and if anyone knows any place local that I should go to with recommendations, let me know!!

It's also important to note that Racks 2,3,and4 were all from O'reilly's Auto Parts.

Either the front end geometry is still off due to the accident or those re-manufactured racks ain't up to snuff for 6" of lift and heavy a$$ tires.

A lot of guys report re-manned racks fail pretty quick even on stock height trucks. Try a new one...

Might be pricier but it may be worth looking into an OEM rack. Who knows your vehicle better than the company that designed it?

The tech at the body shop told me that I have too much travel in my suspension, so it's constantly overworking my r&p. Is it possible to mount a rack from a ram 2500? What sort of fabrication work will be required?

Would limiting straps help?

you dont have anymore travel with a 6" suspention lift, just more ground clearence, i had 35's on my 07 ram 1500 with no issues ever, 2500s do not have racks there solid front axle with a steering box.

id say try a new rack or somthings twisted in the front end putting extra stress on it

2500s don't have a rack, good old Borgeson steering box. So that's not an option.

Although there is no doubt your rack works harder with a lift and larger tires, many guys get 100,000+ miles out of a rack with 6" of suspension lift. The rack on my recently sold lifted '04 has almost 60,000 miles post lift, is the original and is 100% perfectly fine.

It's either a poorly designed lift or you have an issue that keeps blowing the racks...
