Rebuild or Replace?
Hi everyone, first thread here.
I have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 5.9 gas, automatic tranni, 4x4.
Shes got 210,000 miles on her. I had to have the transmission rebuilt abuot 1000 miles ago. Just replaced the water pump last week.
I really lover the truck, so I want to try and keep her. Would a rebuild be okay with the high mileage or should I just drop a crate motor ( probably just another 360) in?
I'm looking forward to yall's input. Thanks
-Mike

6 of one, half a dozen of the other to me. i.e. ones just as good as the other, depends on how much you want to invest I guess. Rebuild would involve a lot of labor hours compared to just replacing. It would boil down to price for me. Whichever one is cheaper and takes less time if the truck was my only means of transportation.

No,,,,,,,,, warranty on new/rebuilt engine... if wanted/needed? purchased complete rebuilt engine... Autozone or other...
2 weeks if both have the time...
day to remove engine and disassemble.
have block machined (most timely)
order parts. after machine shop inspected.. so correct parts are ordered.
assemble... 1 to 2 days..
remember cylinder head work.. if wanted/needed.
install back in truck.. 1 day..
