Question Code Question

Will a season change cause a p0440 code to pop? Today is the first day we had over 70 and when I went to go home my cel was on.

Try tightening your gas cap.

Yes. Evaporative emissions monitor doesn't run in cold weather, so ya, a nice day will cause the monitor to run and detect a fault that otherwise would go unnoticed.

I did tighten my cap. It was on firm. So does this mean it is faulty or is it just resetting?

Kept getting that 440 code, ended up replacing gas cap and it went away.

Have the cap tested before replacing.

Inspection places. Here in TX, they do it every year during the inspection.

We dont have inspection stations up here. I went ahead and spent the $10.00 and replaced the factory original gas cap. Now the question is how long until the cel resets.
