Default spider gears replacement

Hello all. I'm Adam. I have a 2004 1500 ram. 5.7 hemi. With RWD. I'm going to be replacing the*spider*gears. I have done some looking in to it and I'm not sure if I need to mess with the shims. I thinking the shims are if I change the ring gear. Any help or advice would be great.

When I was changing the axle bearings. I notice that some of the teeth had chunks missing out of them. Also I'm going to sell it. I don't want to put a lot of money in to it that I will not get back. Just enough to fix it right.

You should be able to simply swap them out, there will be one shim under each gear, just reuse them.
