Default I've had it with the 2nd. Gen tranny problem Should I go to 3rd Gen????

I was looking at this site for a little guidance, I have a 1999 2500 360 with tranny problems, I got ripped off on a repair job that started at 1,800.00 and by the time it got done it was 2,800.00 and I had to have it towed because he messed it up so badly it would not run. By the way it ran perfect b4 he touched it. Lasted one year and reverse started to slip well, it's now gone completely. Anyway I am looking to ditch this 1999 2nd gen. and maybe go up to a 3rd. gen but it looks like they have there share of problems as well. I have an 8ft fisher on the front that I plow with, I have 15 driveways and 1 small parking lot. Any thoughts would be very helpful. This was my second Dodge 2500 the first I sold at the height of the 1st gas price spike, my 1999 2500 V10 did not pass a station it did not like so i sold it. If I wanted to run to the store a round trip cost of $10.00 was what I would pay for the gas $$$$$ Thank You. Mike

Sounds like you need a 3/4 ton Cummins.

Plowing is hard on the drive train. You could go 3rd gen. IMO go with a good trans shop with warranty. Tell them what you use the truck for. They can beef up the internals. Run a bigger trans cooler. Heat will kill a trans. Just my thoughts.
