Help me ID my engine
Ok guys....I recently got a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 230,000 miles.......at least that's what the title says. As I've been doing routine maintenance this week on it, none of the engine parts are right. For example, my engine clearly has a distributer but the parts stores show that a 2002 has coil on plugs. PCV valve was also different that what the parts store said. I'm thinking at some point, this truck has had an engine swap but how can I be sure? Is there a manufactures stamp or serial number somewhere on the block so I can ID the engine for parts purposes? Thanks in advance for your help.

Oh, I'm pretty sure it's an '02. It can only be '02 or very early '03 with a 3rd Gen body and a 5.9 gasser. The 16 year old kid making $7.50 an hour at your parts store just assumed it had a 4.7. An '02 1500 was available with 3.7 V6, 4.7 V8 and 5.9 V8.
Used to be you could get one off the Ram website, haven't tried to in a while. Dealer can print one or send a PM to DodgeCares on this forum with your VIN...
