Default 2007 Ram 1500 Big Horn Edition 4.7L

I need to finally replace the suspension for the front and rear of my Ram. I tow a popup camper once in a while and haul some dirt or mulch. I also would love to get rid of the play in the steering when going over bumps or railroad tracks. Any recommendations for suspension and steering? Wouldn't mind lifting the truck a couple of inches. Not necessary though. I just want a good ride and the steering play gone. I have about 125,000 miles. Anything else I should be looking for in regards to this truck?

Welcome to the forum. Is it a 2wd or 4x4?

I have 80k on my 4x2 and just did the ball joints (upper and lower), Tie rod ends, shocks, sway bar bushings, and changed 1 sway bar. Sure tightened her up!! Quiet too.

I recently changed the front hubs/bearings, upper control arms (with upper ball joints), outer tie rod ends, sway bar bushings and end links, as well as new tires and a good alignment. I did the lower ball joints and shocks last year. It drives like a completely different truck. You just get used to how free and crappy it drives until everything is tightened back up again!

Look into Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks for your truck if you want some cheap(ish) lift. Keep in mind that if you lift your truck, even just an inch or two, you are going to want to change your stock shocks out, anyway.

What brand ball joints, control arms, tie rod ends, sway bar bushings, sway bar and links did you use?

I used MOOGS on all except the upper control arms/ball joints and the 1 sway bar. Those were the ones you get at Advance Auto with no zirks.

I'm going to start pricing everything out. I figure I'm going to do it all at once. Will all of this get rid of the free play in the steering wheel when going over bumps?

No telling, but it did on mine. Be sure to get an alignment after the work has been done. I go to brake check for my alignment, get the lifetime alignment for about $110.
