Default Truck redlines as soon as it is started.

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 3.7. As soon at the vehicle is started it goes to max rpm. We have replaced to vacum lines and the tps and iat sensor. after replacing those the rpm went to idling at 4000. Mot sure where to go from here thinking the map sensor is next.

Edit - sorry read 3.7 as 5.7

Does the throttle plate move freely? Any codes?

easy things first, make sure the gas pedal isn't stuck or being pressed by any floor mats.

I agree, you need to check throttle body and linkage to see if its actually closing every time you snap the throttle, even with a large vacuum leak it shouldn't be idling that high..

I had this happen on my 98 Single Overhead Cam Neon motor with a plastic intake. Turned out to be a cracked plastic intake manifold. Happens in cold weather sometimes, especially if it has been re-torqued recently.
