I have a 2005 dodge ram 1500 4wd 4.7 the driver side cv axle is SHOT i have been beating at this peace of **** for hours is there something that i am missing? The Inner Side WILL NOT COME OFF!!! i have heated it beated the hell out of it for hours is there something that holds it in????? i see no reason why the hell this will not come of....

 

There is a clip on the end that holds it into the differential. Maybe try a slide hammer.

 

not sure where i would get a slide hammer Also i thought the clip was Inside the differential thats to take the whole shaft out THis fits Over the shaft But if i have to if i take the diff cover off how hard would it be to pull the whole shaft out?

ok thats it im poping the cover off tomorrow and taking the whole shaft out if i can get the pin off i spent the whole day beating the **** out of it i ordered new seals and a half shaft what Axle oil do i use I do not have a manual?

 

The clip is inside. Try AutoZone, they may have a rental. 75-90 I believe for the front.

 

wound up buying a whole new shaft could not get it off its for ever stuck to it lol.
