Default 03 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi Quad Cab: Rear-end high pitched whining sound when pushing gas?

Just like the title says.

Any info anyone can give me I would greatly appreciate it. Seems like high pitched whining can mean a bunch of things. This is coming from the rear end though, and only when putting on the gas.

                  Thanks a million!

What rear end does it have? Do you hear or feel anything out of the ordinary when going around corners/turns?

I'm not sure what rear end I have? It's a RWD 5.7 Hemi? How can I tell?

When I am going slow, I can feel whet feels like the teeth in the rear end not syncing perfect. Almost feels like how driving over a brick road feels?

                  Default Had same problem

Your pinion bearing is going out that's why the gears are not meshing. I would start there if the gear teeth look good.

What all would need to be replaced? Just the pinion bearing? The differential ring and pinion? Would I need the differential ring and pinion installation kit?

What should I look for when tearing it off?

Take the diff cover off and you should see how bad the gears are. I would rebuild the whole rear end if I were you. I'd hate to have it go out on the freeway or something like that. I've looked into rebuilding my rearend myself. It's a hard thing to do. If I'm going to try it I'm going to get one from the junk yard to do just so I have a spare just in case
