Default 2004 Ram 1500 4X4 4d brake rotor replacement procedure

Hello, I am having a problem that seems to be common with 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Hemi 4X4 4d trucks. My front brake rotors are warped. I have a new set and was wondering if someone might be able to lead me step by step through the process of replacing them. I would appreciate any help someone could give me. Thanks Stacy

are you joking? sorry to be blunt but you should be able to do a brake job with out any questioning?

also there is no "problem" with warped rotors on your model truck. it has to do with your driving or it came like that if you bought it used....

ne ways....

1. get tools> c clamp, socket wrench/socket (13mm??), regular screwdriver
2. Pop hood, take cap off brake fluid, put rag around hole
3. Unbolt (2) caliper from mount, remove old pads (srewdriver)
4. take old pad and us calmp to squeeze piston back into caliper.
5. put new rotors on. may need to give old ones a lil tap to get them off
6. put on new pads, put caliper back on.
7.mount wheels.
8. pump pedal.
9. done\
10. reward yourelf for saving money doing yourself by roasting some tire...

Thanks man, I just bought the truck and it has 20k miles on it. I have changed them on older vehicles and I figured that, like everything else new, it would not be as simple as it used to be. Yeah, no telling how much it would be for someone at the dealership to change them. It is costing me $45 for parts. This is the first Dodge truck that I have owned and I have to say that I am empressed with the power. I put a K&N setup and a TB spacer on last week and it sounds awesome. I pull a trailor with a Polaris Ranger around alot and I hardly know it is back there. It is a big improvement over the 1999 Jeep Wrangler that I had before this truck.

throttle body spacers are paper weights to efi vehicles they only help carbureted vehicles. its probably hurting the performance of your truck.

I baby my 04 quad cab 4x4 and my rotors are junk. It started with the rear one's firstI started getting grooves on the passanger side rear at 1500 miles. The dealer said that it was normal wear. then at 2500 miles the rear drivers side start doing it. the dealer said it was mormal wear. then I stated to get a viberation in the streeing wheel when I pushed down on the brakes. So I took it to the dealer they said the front rotors were warped 35 percent and they said that they replaced them. Not the rear one's So after 7,000 miles the viberation came back in the front The dealership was sold to another company and they replaced the front and rear rotors. The new dealer said that Dodge uses cheap rotors on it new Trucks as a cost cutting means. They used a heaver set and every thing is normal It now has 10,000 miles on it and as you can see that's pretty good mileage for an 04 I only drive it on weekend and my main means of transportation is a 06 OPT Cruiser Convertible.By the way I bought the 04 new.

Thanks, that was easy. My Ram stops just as smooth as silk now. Great forum. Appreciate the good advise.

Hi there, I'm new here, but was looking for information about changing the rotors on my '04 Dodge 1500 4x4 truck. I am having the same problems with the rotors, but when I asked them about the warranty, it's 2 years or 24000 miles. Well, unfortantely, I was over the 2 years, but I am having the steering wheel vibration when I slow down from around 50 to 40 miles an hour. Is it easy to replace the front rotors on the 4 wheel drive Rams? I know my 2 straight 6 fords are a pain because I have to remove all the insides for the 4 wheel drive on them to replace the rotors. Also what type of rotors did you guys replace your rotors with?

Haze1111.....remove that TB spacer.......they're junk bud and will possibly as stated, hurt performance.
I certainly know it won't improve it.
