Drive 55 mph with cruise alot. i got 16 in city and 23 mpg in highway. while i am driving at 55mph, engine runs about 1,500 rpm. it shifts to the highest gear to maximize the gas economy.

my truck is bone stock.

Drive 65 or under. use cruise control. Intake and exhaust will get you a mile or 2. Your seeing decent mileage though.

i get 12-14 in town, and 15-18 on the highway. Also, use mechanical mileage, dont use the overhead. they can be really off.

and pirata put it best...

Oh yeah, using synthetic oil and keeping up on the maintenance will help too.

What is your Ram,, 4.7L or 5.7L..?? I've got the 2007 5.7L Hemi ...I installed a Truxedo cover and gained about 1 MPG... City about 14 MPG..Hiway..19 MPG..The best I did on the Hiway was 22.5... I installed the K&N air filters on my last two Trucks..2005 Ford 5.4L and my 2006 Tundra 4.7L.. did NOT see any improvment on mileage or power... My research on K&N showed improvements only If you had you foot in them all the time.. That alone defeats use of the K&N for mileage improvments. Doug

I wouldn't be complaining, this sounds about right to me... I'm by no means a lead foot, easy come easy go, and that's about what I average with my 2wd Hemi (and I even have a few mods that are supposed to help MPG's!!!)
