Looks like I am in the minority and will say that it does not work; at least for me. I seen my mileage and throttle response go down. I installed it and then took it off (after a few weeks either way), then repeated the process again. I finally sold mine, but would have given it away. I hope you are one of the fortunate ones that it works for.
Tha'ts strange... when did you purchase it and did you purchase it through AIRRAM.com? Was it new or used... Did you attempt to contact us so we could help figure it out? I don't recall hearing from you about your issue with the POWER WIRE...
Your symptoms are strange since when installed the "POWER WIRE" can not cause you to burn more fuel unless your at WOT... that's the ONLY time it can cause you to burn more fuel. Out side of WOT in all part throttle positions your o2 sensors keep the AFR nailed to 14.75:1... So with or without the POWER WIRE.... your MPG should not have suffered unless you where WOT in that case it would add approximately 2.5% more fuel at WOT only. Well I guess also in OPEN LOOP when you first start the engine... if you turn it off and on allot you would burn a bit more until it goes into closed loop... but unless you make short frequent trips turning it off/on that would not be a variable.
It would have been nice to have the opportunity to help figure out what went wrong. Something goofy was wrong... But since you don't have it any longer there isn't much we can do about it... sorry it did not work for you...

After I installed it, the transmission would not automatically kick down into a lower gear if I gave it a little more gas to pass or if I was going up a hill. I had to give it about 1/2 throttle for the tranny to kick down. Like I said, just to make sure it wasn't my imagination I took it off, then reinstalled it. Maybe mine was faulty??

It should NOT have effected your shifting. To effect your shifting it by holding the gear longer sounds like it was making more power so the pcm felt it should shift later in the RPM range... Did you attempt to reset your PCM with it installed? Its not uncommon for a mod to cause your PCM to get quirky. Did it give you an engine light? Because if it was bad it would have caused an engine light... also, did you attempt to contact me on this issue? If I failed to respond i do appologize... but I honestly don't recall any issues like this.

which is one of the more sensible things you swallowed your pride and did.
It is a wise idea to learn about IAT sensors,
and how to match their readings to ignition timing,
but it is a waste of money to buy a PowerWire
until you understand enough to be certain you don't need it.

Why is it a bad thing that he got a custom tune? You do realize that a truck needs a tune to take advantage of performance mods. There's no secret there.

Yeah guys, don't worry if your CAI and headers are leaning out your top end... that is exactly what the powerwire helps with- richening up the top end. Listen to Mr Theory here and don't bother following any track results.

Air_Ram makes good stuff and sells it at a good price. I don't know why HankL is bashing on him like that. For anyone who is reading this post unsure of wether to buy a power wire, don't go by the bashing above, talk to someone who has the product. I personally like mine a lot and think it is worth the money. And it does make a difference in performance.

it is always better to find things out for yourself
so spend 25 cents for a resistor
50 cents each for two Berg connectors
and try it the magical beans ... I mean PowerWire... for yourself
and measure the results the way the MegaSquirt guys do a good test:
have a friend use your cell phone or video camera to record a view of your speed as you make the runs
be safe
after trying out the PowerWire
look at the little spiral wrap on the front of the viscous clutch fan
and gently practice fitting a insulated copper wire into the spiral
to cause this 'bimetalic thermostat' to
slightly expand and lock the clutch
as if 220 degree or more air was flowing past it
now run a few passes
with and without locking the viscous clutch fan
.... around 5000 rpm the locked fan will use 20 hp
but this also means that when it is freewheeling
at low rpm it will use less than 2 hp
Even though I do not know airram, or have a personal connection with him, other than him trying to helpme on a few forums(thanks for all your help), I recognize and respect him. And until he does ME wrong, I will not think otherwise. Even if he was trying to sell us bad parts, its not anyones part in trying to sabatoge him and his business. If he was selling bad parts I think word would get around people would not buy from him. But that is not the case.
