My question is how hard it is to clean/remove if you have never dont it before? Is it something like if you can change your oil you can do this? Or is it something that requires more skill?

Unhook the harness and remove the four bolts...gasket is reusable.

Removing the tb is very simple. Shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes to get it off. Just 4 bolts and the electical connector and you are done.

Other than actual build-up that would hinder flow or stop something from working, there's no real benefit from cleaning your t/b if your truck already runs good. It will be a preventative maintenance for any future related problems though.
I bring this up, only because if your t/b looks like that, imagine what the whole inside of your intake and heads must look like??? I'd seafoam the pcv valve so it cleans out anything it touches along the way to the heads! In order to clean up everything properly, your gonna have one big smoke show!
I bet that mine is nastily dirty also. Might have to have it cleaned when I get a tuneup done on my truck. I'm doubting that it was ever cleaned before, so that might help me get an mpg or 2 better, I hope.
not even close, shouldnt affect mpgs by much at all.
