Mine starting ticking at about 2k miles. Now has 9k miles, but only ticks when cold. My previous truck (2003 Hemi) had 99k miles and ticked all the time. You could really hear it if you drove up next to a building (drive through or something) and you could really hear it.

I've also used Risolene with good results. Haven't used it in a Hemi yet though.

Great, just my luck. I'm doubtful service will be open on Patriots Day. I'll just have to bring the truck over to them Tuesday when I get out of class. Just kind of sucks. I sold my last Ram because I didn't want to be dealing with the possibility of a problematic valve train, but this one appears to be showing signs at a very early stage of its life.

Default Rislone

I usually purchase it at any auto parts store or Walmart. It is usually kept in the oil or oil additive section, it is in a bright yellow bottle.

Did you get rid of a 5.9 because you were worried about the valvetrain?? LOL The 5.9 isn't the powerhouse of the Hemi but it's twice as durable!!

I've said it before, I'll say it one more time. I have personally witnessed valve failures in a Hemi equiped Ram. It's not a pretty sight. Nor is the fight over who should pay for the repairs. This is just another quality issue that Chrysler is turning their backs on. Along with leaking steering racks and grenading rear diffs.

If you have the infamous "Hemi tick", and your still under warranty, get it to the dealer. It's not "if" a valve stem breaks, but when!

Awesome. I know the power steering rack has already been replaced once on this truck, and it feels like it still has some minor issues. Then of course there is the tick. I made an appointment Wednesday with the used car dealership I bought the truck from. I'm dubious as to if they are going to do anything since they are a Nissan dealership....

01DodgeRam360's luck is why I no longer buy used stuff. Or try my hardest not to anyway. Sometimes a deal just pops up I can't pass up but 99% of the time I will no longer buy anything used even if it's almost new as I rarely have good luck.

It seems like a lot of times with cars people trade them in when they start having a issue or thinking they are going to have a issue. Especially in this day and age.

I'm glad I saw this post. My 05 has a slight tick, but it's not that bad. I put Royal Purple and STP in the last oil change, maybe a little quieter. Next time, I'll probably use Lucas instead of STP. It has 82K, and no real problem, just the slight tick.

The motor on the truck runs fantastic, but it does have that slight tick. I wish I knew more to know if it was hurting the engine or not. I can't hear it from inside the engine, just when I'm outside near the front wheel wells. Honestly, I don't really care what happens. I have a 7 year/70,000 mile warranty. I plan to have this truck for the four years I'm paying on it, and then selling it while it still retains warranty.

7 year warranty or not I would think about getting that looked at while you still have the initial warranty from the dealer. It might just be your video but that hemi tick is really loud (louder than a normal hemi tick), if it was me I would not let it go if you can get the dealer you just purchased that truck from to take a look at it and possibly fix it on their dime.
