Default 2005 Powerwagon

I found a Powerwagon for sale locally. I might go take a look at it. The only thing i am concerned about it the MPG of this truck. It will be my daily driver. How good is the Hemi with add ons such as exhaust, intake, chips, etc? thanks.

well, im sure that if i dont say it someone else will: you dont buy a truck like this and expect to get anything closer to descent gas mileage. youre probably looking at like less than 12 mpg if you drive in the city a lot. with all those upgrades you could get a couple extra mpgs and maybe 20+ extra hp.

Awesome truck! But I don't think you want it for a daily driver. But everyone who has one can't make a single post without complaining about the mileage...

most peope are going to say to go with the diesel. if you need to haul heavy loads then i would definitely wait and save up for the CTD

The power wagon is built on a 2500 frame, you get larger tires, 285 70 17 ( 265 70 17 is stock 2500 rim ) locking front diff, built in whinch and a little better shock than the base 2500, not much seperates a power wagon from a 2500.

The gear ratios are not the same on a 2500, ie 373 or 410 ( not sure on the power wagon ) A power wagon is built for off road, yet I have never seen one off road, its a shame to spend good coin on a truck and than stratch it all up going off road.

If your worried abought gas mileage, rough ride on the high way than the power wagon is not a smart buy, if your going to go off road and work the truck and have a real need for a 3/4 ton 4x4, than don't worry abought keeping the beast fed.

The Power Wagon has 4.56 gears in it.

If I could afford another truck (to go with my '09 3500 CTD) it would DEFINITELY be a Power Wagon. IMHO, it is the coolest rig out there.

Fortunately, I only live about four miles from work so I don't need a commuter car.

I used to have a PW. Couldn't stand the fuel mileage! The best I could get was about 13 mpg on flat, open, 55 mph country roads. After a while, the poor mileage wears on you. Off road, the truck itself was a beast, though the tires need to be upgraded to something better.

In the end, I had to get rid of it for a diesel, and have not regretted that decision at all.

That seems to be the sentiment with everyone I've ever talked to that had a Power Wagon, Otis. They are fantastic off-road vehicles, but after the uniqueness where's off, everyone seems to be looking to get rid of it and either step back into a 1500 or into a CTD...

Fantastic truck if you can afford to have it be your "for show" or hunting/playing vehicle, but a really poor choice for a daily driver...
