Well I have run through about 5-6 tanks of gas since I switched to RP and I have be consistantly seeing 12.3-13.5 MPG. With the Mobil1 I was in the 11.2-12.1 neighborhood. So the mileage has improved slightly and I have noticed that the engine is running slightly cooler. Overall I like the oil and will probably put it in all my stuff from now on.

Putting a synthetic gear oil in a differential with an Auburn Gear LSD voids the warranty. A DTT is frictionless, so it doesn't matter. My Auburn performs flawlessly, but if I had to do it over again, I'd get the DTT.

The only advantage I've seen that the Auburn has over the DTT is that it consistantly locks up faster than the DTT. A must at the track, but not nearly as important elsewhere.
Short of having a highly modified 2wd truck that you are racing, where the Auburn will help your times, I think the DTT is the better choice...
Sorry Hammer.................but I think I'll have to correct you.
I asked this same question to the techy advisor at DTT, as I have one in my truck.
This is what he said Quote:

"Greetings from the U.S. The Truetrac requirements are as follows - No
synthetics oils, and no additives. Most (not all) synthetic oils cause
excessive slippage causing a reduction in torque loads. I would say that
if you are not having any traction issues after installation, not to
worry".

So having put the stock Mopar 75w 140 into my diff and I believe I'm not having any traction issues, I will leave it untill the next diff oil change in about 9k time. I will then use the best quality same weight dino oil I can find, to see if there is any difference.

Just thought I'd post this as I believe it could be significant with all us DTT users junking our stock LSD's.

Al.

IDK. I never seen any increase in MPGs from my RP and I have it throughout the truck. I literally have it everywhere. I have it in the engine, the rear and just flushed the tranny and replaced it all with RP Max ATF. The engine oil is about $7-$8 (7 quarts) and the rear oil is about $15 (2 or 3 quarts). The trans oil was $11 (17 quarts).

That's interesting, Al.
As I've always read that Detroit's official position was it's ok to run synthetics with their products.
I've even had the conversation at their booth at a truck show and the guy (although I'm sure he was just a marketing geek) confirmed this.
I guess my stance is going to be the same as if someone has an Auburn from now on, use a high quality conventional lube.

To Chefred: I've read that one before, although it really says nothing to me. It says the claims are unproven, but that the RP did show a benefit, but not nearly as much as claimed. How many companies show real world results though?

To Weedahoe: I have it all throughout my Grand Cherokee and it's made a world of difference. A good 2-2.5 mpg over the fluids that were in it when I bought it. (I'm assuming conventional in the engine & transfer case and synthetic in the diffs, as this is what the manual states and I know the previous owner had the dealership maintain it).

The truck currently has RP everywhere but the transfer case and rear diff and is NOT showing my any measurable mpg gains. It is however, running a good bit smoother and the "hemi tick" is a good bit quieter than when I ran Mobil 1...
