Damn, you must been really wrenching on that thing. Usually pans do not get tightened to much. The shop will back it right out for you, but it is possible they will want to drop the pan to do so, which is not all bad since it was leaking.

Wow, sorry to hear that man. It could have happened to anyone, and it doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. It's just one of those things that happens. Hope you get it fixed and it doesn't break the bank!
well it happened to me.. and I kicked myself for that but I got over it... you'll get it fixed and everything will be fine again
That's a tough break man but don't feel too bad, it happens to the best of us. I got a question about the trans pan. When you reinstalled it did you use a gasket, rtv, both?
I just cleaned all the old RTV off real good, then used a nice bead of RTV. the sump filter i bought came with a gasket, but i said forget that, RTV is where its at. guess not huh?
The lit I bought came with a gasket too so I put it in there instead of just using rtv like I had planned. Maybe try putting the gasket in after you get it fixed to see if it stops the leak.

I used to put a thin film of RTV on both sides of the gasket before installing it. I didn't have any leaks but it was a fun time getting it back off.
I put a thin bead on too with the gasket, but I only put it on the pan side.
