replacing goodyear wrangler hps with a better tire?

I have a 06 Ram 1500 2 wheel drive with around 33,000 miles. I have the factory 20's with the factory installed Goodyear Wrangler HP tires. I still have decent tread but for the past month or so i have noticed a shimmy in my steering wheel. well in the past 2 weeks it has gotten worse and my whole truck shakes around 60 to 65mph. The seats and whatever i have in my truck shakes bad. It will ease up if i slow down but it is still there. I also have my truck lowered 2inches in the front and 4 inches in the rear but i did that over 2 years ago and this just started. Do these tires have a recall or bad rep for messing up. But anyway im probably going to be getting some new ones here soon anyway. i am wanting to get some better 20" tires that look good on a lowered Dodge like mine. Maybe a smaller sidewall because the factory ones are kinda huge looking and doesnt really look right. So any opinions would be great. If you could give a price for a set that would be nice too. thanks.

i have heard nothing but bad things about the goodyear hp's .
if your looking for nice rims i have seen some websites where they let you see the rims on your vehicle (in stock form) do a google search. if you find some nice rims you like you might ask someone on this forum to photo shop them onto a picture of your lowered truck....... good luck

goodyear tires suck i would get dayton timberland tires they are awsome tires

ah ok thanks for the info nim and dakota. Im really wanting to go ahead and get some new wheels but my wallet is a little bare right now for that and new tires lol.

i know how you feel!
im wanting to go the other way and get some nice 17's and 35" tires.
as far as good low pros on a lowered truck with 20's ive heard good things about perellies(?spelling?)

What type of tire are you looking for? All season, sport, off road? One of the best all season tires is the Cooper Zeon LTZ.

Look into Sam's club and the BFG Long Trail T/A tires. I had these on my Ford and will be putting them on my 08 Ram when it's time for tires. They should last twice as long and have a good ride and good all weather traction. Priced right too!!

cinder blocks would be a better choice than the stock crapyears!

If you want a tire that will last longer then get a tire with a higher treadwear rating as this indicates or hard (or soft) the rubber is. Coopers are something like 460 whereas the Wranglers are in the 300s.

i dont think he would want the zeons on that truck, i think he'd be goin for the sport look as opposed to an offroad look. the best thing to do is to go onto www.discounttiredirect.com and type in the size tire you want. you should get a bunch of results from that, then read reviews on the tires you like.
