Unhappy Hemi Tick...not about what it is..

Ok guys i have a question. today after work i did my regular oil change and service. But heres the catch. The tick has been loud one day then gone another, then i did my oil change, no change in type of filter, royal purple 5-20 and i threw in a jug of lucal synthetic oil stabilizer cause i thought maybe that would quiet it down. Nope, it got alot louder. It has gotten quite a bit warmer(-10* C up to 15*C) it wasnt to bad when i first started it up just after it warmed up and i drove it. Can anyone else tell me if i am heading for catastrophic failure here or what.

It may not even be the hemi tick from what i have read. my tick isnt as loud from the top of my engine as if i stick my head in my wheel well...6 inch lift... any help or comments is appreciated. if none then i guess the other methods will come out lol.

Thanks in advance guys you are always so helpfull.

I actually have the same thing, I didnt think its the hemi tick because there is no top end noise, but you can hear it when you are standing beside the truck and its even louder when you lay under the engine.. The only thing is that mines only loud when its cold and warming up, once its warm its not to noticeable.. Im still trying to figure out what it is, have you gone to a dealer and had them look at it??

My truck has had that loud tick since 400miles. Pisses me off.
It's valve noise if you were wondering. Too much clearance in the valve guides from what I've heard.

take that oil stabilizer crap out of there. You just compromised the quality of $50 worth of oil. RP is a fantastic oil, don't taint it.

mine gets louder/quieter with the weather too. also with what type of oil. used Amsoil 5/30, almost gone. put in RP 5/20, loud. now that the RP is 7500 old (i know, this weekend I hope) it's quiet again.

none of my stuff goes to the dealer lol i work in a shop and do all my own work...i am going to pinpoint it with a stethascope this weekend after my liftkit and cutout intstall i have booked in, I dont think it is the hemi tick because it is an overhead cam engine...everything is in the top end of the engine, my tick isnt coming from there. its more of a noise from the bottom end on the drivers side.

I'm tellin you, it's the Hemi tick. it doesn't seem like it's coming from the top because the engine is Aluminum which resonates the sound more and makes it harder to tell where the noise is coming from. When i crouch down beneath the truck behind the front tires, the noise is substancial but yet when I stand up I can't hear much at all. With the hood open, can't hear anything. The sound is just being transfered and echoing through the block.

I'm not a mechanic but if it comes 'n goes, wouldnt that be a lifter (pump up) issue?

It';s not the lifter. It comes and goes because of oil, if it makes it's way in the guide or not. Also, hot/cold expansion/contraction of metal changes the clearances within the valve guides.
