Default Dumb question about oil......

I have an 04 hemi with 93,000 miles and I have been using castrol gtx 10w30 since the second oil change which was 6,000 miles. (So thats 87,000 mi. using 10/30) My question is, is it to late to even think about using 5w20? Or should I stick with using the 10w30? Switch to synthetic?

It probably calls for 5w30. You can use 5w20, but your oil pressure may be lower.
I would suggest the 5w30.

I think different year models called for different weights... Mine's an 05 and it calls for 5w-20.

nope, it's never too late to switch, either type or viscosity... Your '04 calls for 5w/30, I'd go with that...

Alright, i got some good replies. If i change it now, either viscosity or type, will i have worry about the engine, internally. For example, my engine has been use to 10/30. If i switch to a 5w oil, will it wear valves or something. I think im just afraid to swtich a viscosity or type and hate to think about engine trouble down the road. Or am I thinking to extreme here......

You are thinking to the extreme. It should be fine.

I've run 5w20 in my 04 Hemi since new. I always found it weird because the dealer and the manual disagree on the type of oil, but the Full Syn has served me trouble free for 150,000kms over the last 2yrs.....

I switched my truck to 5W-30 synthetic from 10W-30 conventional which the last owner was running. doesn't hurt a thing,

I think I would stick to 10w-30 with that kind of mileage and if that's what you have been using so far. Why the need to change? Change isn't always good....lol
