Even thought the lights get hot, I havent heard of any heat issues. Get mod, worth the $50 you might spend.

When I decided that I wanted to make the hella's flash with the alarm, I first tried wiring it directly into the parking lights (thinking that those are the lights that flash when I hit the remote) but that didn't work because when I hit the alarm it lights the turn signals and not the parking lights. But I liked having the hellas come on right away with my first level of lighting so I left them wired into the parking lights. That left me with option two for getting them to flash which was to wire the hellas into the signal wire running from the alarm to the lights so when the alarm is armed/disarmed it also triggers the hella's. Wiring them into the alarm signal worked so now they flash with the alarm and turn on with the parking lights.
