Default Painting Emblems?

Hey guys,

So I have taken off my emblems and now I want to paint them black. How do I do it. Do I need any special primer/chrome remover/paint? If someone could list the steps of doing it I would appreciate it so much.

Thanks everyone.

sand the chrome down with some sandpaper so the paint can stick. you want the chrome to look like the brushed aluminum look. then some self etching primer and then 2-3 coats of the black paint you want. you could also get bullydog adhesive promoter to help the paint stick. if you do that then that goes before the primer.

+1 on the scotchbrite pads. Thats what I used to scuff the surface, then used adhesive promoter, then a few coats of black paint and then clearcoat. Here's how mine turned out...

I painted mine flat black. I just roughed them up with sand paper, wiped with a duplicolor prep wipe, and sprayed them. Since mine are flat black i had to put about 6-7 coats because i can't clear coat them. If you're going to go buy a rattle can make sure you get a good AUTO paint from autozone, pepboys, etc. Also try to do it in a dust free area such as a closed garage and warm temperatures.
