Default My Ram is too slow ..

Hey Every one ..

Finally I just bought a 2004 Ram HEMI slt 4x4 .. it has a 3.55 and 65000 km ..

any way its like a new one but the problem is its too damn slow .. it takes 10 seconds from 0 - 100 km .. and i dont think that stock hemis are like that ..

by the way i installed a custom spectre air filter and a flowmaster 40 series and a turndown and i took the cats off ..

after this mod it does a small backfire when it switch to third .. and i dont know if thats good ..

sorry if my language isnt perfect but i am saudi .. and i think that you are the only guys can help me .. because belive it or not iam the only guy that have a ram hemi where i live other than that they use it for companys .. i have a lot of friends have gmc sierras 4.8 and i was tellin them that i wil show them what hemi can do but now i am disapointed ..

give it a full tune up, replace spark plugs, EGR valve, and filters. Use all synthetic lubricants. Clean the throttle body and you should be good to go. You should smoke a 4.8 or 5.3 GM easily...

thank you very much ..

i will do exactly what you said .. i already have a check engine and i went to a mechanic and he said that the check engine is for the egr valve and i dont have to replace it ( i cleand it but it didnt work ) he said that it wont effect the car because its a heating sensor and we dont need it here in saudi arabia .. is that true ?? and does egr valve effects hp and torque ??

are you sure i can beat 5.3 easily with a 3.55 .. beacuse now i cant .. i hardly beat 4.8 and its just untill 150 km then they leave me back ( my ram is so bad at 3rd )

and im noticing that my oil pressure is not moving its in the half even if i go full throttle .. is that normal ??

An EGR CEL will effect performance, replace the valve and find a new mechanic.

If you want to race other trucks, then re-gear to at least 4.10s. But a 3.55 equipped Hemi QC 4x4 will still beat a 3.73 QC 4x4 GM if it's performing up to specs. Now if you are racing a significantly lighter truck, such as a regular cab or a 4x2, he will stomp you!

My oil gauge rarely moves from just a hint above half. But it wouldn't hurt to pick up a bottle of Seafoam and treat the crankcase, air intake and gas system while doing your full tune up and TB cleaning...

i think when i am ready i will go with the 4.56 .. and i forgot to say that my ram is a regular cab .. so i guess its worst than you think .. a regular cab and a 10 seconds is so slow ..

thanks alot ..

you did a big favor for me .. i dont know how to thank you but i wish i could return the favor some day ..

shoulda got the 5.9 lol jk back fire isnt really bad , its leftover fuel that hit the headers and backfire , you can really hear backfires if you have a open exhaust like a cutout hehe

How fast are these speeds in mph? There is a guy I work with who bought a chevy with the 6.0 last month who I school at least once a week after work. So you should be taking these 4.8's and 5.3's with no problem I would think.

welcome hemi 5.7 im from Egypt. i just need to tell you to take care coz i know u drivers in saudi are crazy and u drive so fast. so speed safe and dont street race coz i know the number of dead young guys who die coz of accidents. i think you should get a superchip and the 4.56 gears with an LSD. then you should do all the stuff hammerz told u to do and i think the check engine light is coz u took off ur cats.... trust me the gears are the most important mod and of course use 95 premium fuel its cheap at ur place ....cheers and enjoy ur ride

I didn't catch that on my first read, good catch Ahmed.

Yeah, unless you do the non-fouler trick or install simulators, you will generate a CEL when removing the cats. However, unlike a CEL generated for the forward O2 sensors, which will adversely effect your A/F ratio, a CEL generated for the rearward is simply a warning light, and will not effect performance...
