Default Painting Emblems

Im taking off my emblems so that I can paint them black. What do I use to take off the old adhesive tape off my truck? I also got my grille painted black I will post pics as soon as I finish my emblems.

go to auto zone and get bug and tar remover. spray it on and wait % min. then it practically wipes off. and use satin black spray paint. its like flat black but is way way more durable. and will really set off those wheels of urs!

You could try a hair dryer if you don't have a heat gun. If you want to play it safe I would agree with Bigc. Can't remember if the heat gun was affective on two sided tape.

I don't know if the tape is the same for every year. I have an 06 and when i took my emblems off with fishing line, it left foam tape on the door. The letter still read perfect, just looked like a rough sticker. I left it on my door for two reasons. One, so i would know exactly where to put the letter back on; and two, i was using a 3m emblem adhesive that i didn't want to put on my paint. So after i painted my emblems, i just put some adhesive on the backs, and stuck them right to the foam that was still on my door. There's really no point to take it off.
