Nice big American parts? The rams tranny and diffs go out faster than any other truck
At least the Tundra is made in America unlike my Mexican hemi engine.

I wish i had a truck that was the body and engine of a ram, but the rest made by Toyota

i mean they use daina rear ends in peter build\t semis and almost all 2500s and 3500s. i would put one up against a little toyota and esp a nisan one any day. look at them! they are like half the size. and my friends dad a\has a fully loaded tundran brand new and he has had a ton of problems all ready! but they are fast as hell and tow a lot!

When I was test driving trucks in late March and early April looking for a new truck, I was most impressed by the Toyota Tundra. The only thing I didn't like about the Tundra, was its front end. Besides that minor cosmetic defect, I was really impressed with how smooth the truck drove, and the way it hugged you. You could just feel how it was going to last a long time, not to mention how ridiculously fast it was. A lot of American vehicles just seem heavy and cloppy, and waiting to self-destruct themselves. The Tundra was light on its feet, yet easily could tow impressive amounts of weight. I wouldn't be surprised if it could easily out-tow many 80's and 90's 3/4 tons way more efficiently. However, I'm very happy with my 2005 Hemi with just 28K miles, and I'm in love with the looks.

Niether does the Dodge. They're AMC, not Dana. Despite that you're trying to compare 3/4 and 1 tons to a half ton when your talking about those axles. Trannies...the Dodge auto's seem to be a real weak link in every catagory.

Comparing apples to apples, everything I've read about the Nissan Titan indicates it'll kick a 1500 Rams ass all day long. I don't like either but its true. Out tows, out payloads, wanna race? Don't even try. Off road, throw in that electric rear locker...forget about it.

Personally, I wish I had looked at the Titan before I bought my Ram. The only reason I didn't is because I made the jackass assumption that the Titans only came with the 5-1/2' bed. I hate shortbeds personally but at least the Dodge has a 6'er I can semi comfortably sleep in on Bonzai weekend hunting trips when I don't want to pull the trailer. 2 weeks later I see this wicked looking lifted Nissan with a 6-1/2' bed at a dealer up the street from me. Oh well.

Semis use Rockwell rearends much of the time. You won't find a Dana 44 or 60 rearend in anything newer than the mid 90's.

Your truck vs a kingcab would be a good race and you'd probably win...I wouldn't go around trying to run a extended cab 2wd though.

Yeah, but I don't want to race. I just want to tow my trailer and get around in the mud, sand and rocks without getting stuck.

My 08 QC is rated to tow 8750lbs
09 in the same trim is 8800lbs

The coil spring rearend didn't cost any towing capacity. Gained 50lbs over 08

I'd like to know how they decide towing capacity anyway. It seems pretty arbitrary.

There's also a very good possibility that they underrate the 1500 to spur the sales of the even-more-profitable 2500 trucks.

When the line between a "legal" and an "illegal" load is decided by whatever the manufacturer stamps on the plate, it leave an awful lot of control in their hands.
