Regular cab sub box

I need to add some boom to my truck. I already have 2 Kicker 12" CVR's which have a mounting depth of 6-5/16" and are calling for a minimum of 1 cubic foot of air space in a sealed box. I found a prefab box but it is not deep enough to fit the subs. I am trying to make a custom box to fit in the tray behind the seat and I think I have figured it out but the box does not have enough air space. I am going to add some polyfil which tricks the subs into thinking there is more airspace than there really is. I was just wondering if anyone else has solved this problem. I use my truck as a truck so no ideas like pass throughs or the armrest box. What have you done and pics would be helpful. Thanks.

Your best bet is to go to a good stereo shop and have them custom mold a fiberglass box against the back of your cab. And you might have to slide your seat forward a bit too.

The best way to get the desired air space in a regular cab is to remove the tray, and build a box that sits on the floor.

Hemi44, I have seen that box (the only prefab for a dodge regular cab) but the problem with that is it doesn't have the right mounting depth. I was thinking about a shop doing a custom fab fiberglass box but then its alot more expensive than buying a sheet of 3/4" MDF and its far more rewarding to make your own box. Since I am going off to college in the fall, I also wanted to keep as much space in the cab as I can. I am being really picky becuase I do want to keep the tray in and as much space as I can. I also want it to look custom but not be obvious when you look in my window in a parking lot. I think I have figured it out though. I should be making the box toninght or tomorrow and when I finish I will put up some pics. The diminsions are 16" high in the back, 15.5" wide, 8" high in the front, 11.5" deep, and an angled board at the top.

Alright. I thought your mounting depth was 6 5/16? The box allows 6 1/2.

I leave for college in the fall as well. Where are you going? I'm from Ohio too lol

Yes, it SHOULD fit but my local audio store has a box exactly like it and I tried putting a cvr in it and the magnet hit the back of the box. I am going to Bowling Green State University, about 30 minutes from Toledo. Where are you going?

Depending on how much it fit, you could use a spacers ring around the sub cutout. I have that box but i have 2 Rockford Fosgate p3 shallows in there... They hit amazingly! hehe

Hontzy, that box looks pretty sweet. Did you spray paint the fosgate logo on there? I did think about the spacers but wasnt sure if it would seal up correctly. I think I have figured out the design I am going to use. It gives me .82 cubic feet of air space and then I will add some polyfill which tricks the sub. Do you know how thick the wood is in that prefab box?
