^^^OPINION^^^ it all opinion bro, I go with the MOBIL 1 extended service
K & N buys mobile 1 filters, welds on a nut, and repaints them to sell as K & N. That is a fact. Check out bobistheoilguy.com. The 'difference' in media is just two ways of describing the same thing.

I just chaged mine and went to sythetic.I went with Mobile 1 just cause RP or Amsoil isnt real common here for some reason. Also went with K&N filter.I like the stupid nut thingy on the bottom.Alot easier than a strap type wrench.

Look guys.. I wasn't trying to start a oil filter debate, i was just stating what I use and like. I'm sure if you look long enough you can find pros and cons about any brand that you want. This ground has surely been treaded on before.

Well we answered his question, no special precautions are necessary when switching to synthetic but a better than average filter is a good idea for the longer OCI.

Same up here in nY. I buy a few oil changes when they have the sales. I could care less if my engine get's Mobil1 Synthetic, Valvoline Synthetic or RP Synthetic. It's all the same to me. It's all Synthetic blends made by human. There are no dirt particles that need to be filtered out. It's a pure oil. I promise you. Your engine won't be able to tell the difference
Amsoil, Mobil1, PureOne and Bosch are the only filters that I know of which have Synthetic fiber media stuffed inside the casing.
